2026 District AGM – Notification of elections to the District Trustee Board

Date: 19th May 2026 Author: Remy Maxwell-Thompson

To all members of the Lambeth District Scout Council, and to interested members of the wider community

Lambeth District Trustee Board oversees the governance of Scouting activities of over 700 young people across Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer Groups.

More detail of the responsibilities of our Trustees can be found on the County website:

https://southlondonscouts.org.uk/welcome-our-members-area/governance/tools-help-you-run-your-trustee-board

On the Board we need to have at least 5 Trustees, including an elected Chair and Treasurer plus representatives of the District team at youth and at adult level, but no more than 12 Trustees in total. Ideally this will include one or two Trustees aged between 18 and 25 years old.

Like all other Trustee Boards at all levels around the country we are asked that vacancies should be advertised widely.

District Trustees usually get together for 5-6 meetings a year (on a weekday evening for 90 minutes per session) and for the AGM which is generally held in June.

If you would be interesting in joining the District Board as a Trustee, please put your name forward for consideration by writing to the District Chair by Friday 5 June (alan@lambethscouts.org.uk).

If there are more applicants than available positions then a vote will be held at the Lambeth District AGM on Tuesday 23 June at Bar 111, 111 Blegborough Road SW16. More details on the AGM can be found via the link below:

https://www.lambethscouts.org.uk/events/agm-2026

Elected Trustees will need to apply for or hold a valid Scout DBS (the Disclosure and Barring Check can be applied for free of charge via the Scout Organisation) and take GDPR, Safety & Safeguarding and Trustee Induction online training modules

Please share this note as widely as you can with all Group Scout Council members, and with the wider community, by putting the letter on OSM, into Group or Section WhatsApp Groups, sharing via email circulation lists etc.

Thank you,

Alan
