Lambeth Walk Methodist Church Community Reopening Day
Volunteers from across Lambeth had the pleasure of attending a community open day to showcase Lambeth Walk Methodist Church’s new building this Saturday 12th July.
Lambeth Walk has been the home of 75th North & Central Lambeth – led by the wonderful Carol Leonard MBE who is a stalwart of the Church and Scouting communities – for many years. As the Church was being rebuilt, the group had to take a break and Carol has been helping out at the 8th Lambeth.
With the Church just having the final touches added, they opened their doors for a grand re-opening, including VIP tours! We’re all very excited for the potential this new space brings to Lambeth, and to have our young people taking part in Scout activities here once more.
Big thank you to those who came to support from 8th Lambeth and 15th Lambeth Air Scouts, as well as our County Programme Lead for South London, Liz. We had quite a few families give their details, interested in bringing their children along, and Liz managed to make a contact for some potential future activities! 👀🚴♀️
Thank you also to Nasna and Aisha from the Scout Association Growth and Recruitment team who also came down on the day to get involved. It gave us a chance to discuss what support we can provide to get the 75th back up and running in this brand-new space.
The event also gave us a chance to meet the Church’s minister, Revd Sue Shortman, who is a great supporter of our work. Sue also oversees Streatham Methodist Church, home of 4th Streatham Sea Scouts and Mercury Explorer Unit, so it is great to have her on board!
Finally, our District Lead Volunteer, Remy, had the opportunity to present Carol with a long service badge to recognise the fantastic work she has achieved over almost 40 years in Scouts (and more with BP Scouts before that!). Thank you, Carol!
